Group urges transparency in fund distribution, stronger support for small businesses, agriculture and vocational training across Delta State
NDOKWAFORWARD, a political pressure group in Ndokwa land, has commended the Delta State Government’s proposed empowerment initiative targeting economically disadvantaged residents, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen small businesses, improve household incomes and stimulate grassroots economic development.
The group, in a statement jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Samuel Osasa, Esq.; Omordi George Ugbomah, PhD; and Chief Isaac Onyesom, said the initiative could improve livelihoods and promote economic self-reliance if effectively implemented.

NDOKWAFORWARD maintained that the success of government policies should be assessed not only through infrastructure projects but also by their tangible impact on ordinary citizens, particularly their ability to earn a living, provide for their families and establish sustainable businesses.
According to the group, small and medium-scale enterprises remain vital to Delta State’s economy, providing employment opportunities, sustaining households and supporting commercial activities across communities.
It observed that many entrepreneurs were facing rising operating costs and declining purchasing power, noting that targeted financial assistance could help existing businesses expand while enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to establish viable ventures.
Group Urges Transparency, Effective Monitoring
While welcoming the proposed intervention, NDOKWAFORWARD stressed the importance of transparency, accountability and effective monitoring to ensure that the funds reach the intended beneficiaries and are invested in productive activities.
The group said the programme’s success should be reflected in business growth, improved household incomes, job creation and increased economic activities across the state.
It added that a transparent selection process and appropriate monitoring mechanisms would be necessary to ensure that the initiative delivers measurable benefits to the people it is designed to assist.
NDOKWAFORWARD Seeks Broader Economic Reforms
The group also called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration to complement the empowerment programme with a broader economic development strategy focused on agriculture, vocational training, affordable credit and infrastructure.
It argued that sustainable economic growth would require an enabling environment in which private businesses could thrive, young people could acquire marketable skills and entrepreneurs could access the resources needed to expand their operations.
According to NDOKWAFORWARD, Delta State possesses significant human and economic resources that could support greater prosperity if backed by consistent policies, strategic investments and effective implementation.
The group maintained that empowerment programmes should serve as a pathway to long-term economic independence rather than create permanent dependence on government assistance.
Beneficiaries Advised to Invest Wisely
NDOKWAFORWARD further urged prospective beneficiaries to utilise the financial support responsibly by investing in productive ventures, strengthening their businesses and creating employment opportunities for others.

It expressed hope that the initiative would be sustained and integrated into a broader framework for economic inclusion, enterprise development and improved living standards.
The group reaffirmed its support for policies aimed at expanding economic opportunities for residents and urged the Delta State Government to sustain its commitment to enterprise development, self-reliance and shared prosperity across the state’s 25 local government areas.
It said sustained collaboration between government, private-sector operators, entrepreneurs and community stakeholders would be essential to ensuring that economic empowerment translates into lasting benefits for Deltans.
