Hon. Barr. Umar Gali Ahmed, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has cited zoning and political balance as key reasons for supporting Hon. Yerima Albasheer Mohammed ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Gali, who convenes Albasheer Vanguard Toto LG, said the traditional understanding on political rotation between Toto and Nasarawa local government areas should remain an important consideration as the constituency prepares for another electoral cycle.
He argued that adherence to the arrangement could help promote fairness, broaden political participation and strengthen cooperation between stakeholders in both local government areas.
The APC chieftain made his position known during a telephone interview with correspondent on Sunday evening.
He also expressed reservations about the senatorial ambition of Dr Shuaib Faisal, a son of Toto LGA, saying the development had implications for political calculations surrounding the House of Representatives seat.
He reminded the people of Toto LG that the senatorial ticket of APC now in Toto, and wonder why some people are thinking otherwise, warming against anything capable of disorganized the existing political system
Gali further pointed to the incumbent federal lawmaker’s eight years in the National Assembly, Hon. AbdulmuminiMohammedAri, maintaining that the length of service was relevant to discussions about the constituency’s next representative.
His endorsement of Albasheer, however, was not limited to zoning considerations.
The legal practitioner said he was also committed to reconciling aggrieved party members and persuading young people who had become disenchanted with the APC to return to its fold.
He described party unity as a necessary foundation for effective political mobilisation, particularly as aspirants and their supporters begin to consolidate their positions ahead of the 2027 polls.
Gali expressed satisfaction with what he described as Albasheer’s growing acceptance across the 12 wards and three districts of Toto LGA.
He said he was confident that Albasheer could provide quality representation if elected, adding that the interests of the electorate should remain central to the political process.

The APC chieftain called for greater cooperation among party members, urging stakeholders to approach the forthcoming elections with a spirit of inclusion and mutual understanding.
The zoning question is likely to remain part of political discussions in the constituency as parties and aspirants seek support ahead of 2027.
Gali maintained that a combination of political balance, reconciliation and sustained engagement with voters would help strengthen the APC’s prospects.
