The 2027 governorship election in Kogi State is not just another election. It is a referendum on continuity, stability and progress. And for every true Kogite, making the re-election of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo a personal business is not just politics – it is self-interest.

When Governor Ododo took over on January 27th 2024, many asked if he could fill the big shoes before him. In less than two years, he has not only filled them, he has charted his own path of quiet, people-focused governance.

First, Ododo has proven that governance is about the people, not noise. He has kept faith with prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities – a burden that once crippled the state. Workers get paid as and when due, pensioners smile again, and the era of percentage salary is permanently gone. Any Kogite who has a civil servant as a brother, sister, father or neighbor knows what this means for the local economy.

Second is consolidation. Ododo did not come to destroy what he met; he came to build on it. He has sustained the security architecture that made Kogi one of the safest states in Nigeria, while injecting new reforms in education, health and agriculture. From the continued funding of Kogi State University, Kabba-Bunu, to the massive investment in healthcare delivery and rural access roads, his government is touching the real people.

Third is his detribalized, inclusive style. Governor Ododo has shown himself as a governor for all Kogites – Ebira, Igala, Okun and other minority groups. His appointments, projects and empowerment programs cut across Kogi East, Central and West. He has healed old wounds and is preaching unity over division. This is the kind of leader Kogi needs for long-term peace.

Fourth is loyalty and alignment to the centre. With Ododo at Lugard House, Kogi remains firmly connected to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That connection is already bringing federal presence and benefits to the state. Changing leadership in 2027 would disrupt this synergy and take Kogi back to the days of isolation and opposition politics that never helped us.

Re-electing Ododo in 2027 is not about APC or party. It is about protecting a system that is working, a salary system that is working, a security system that is working and a unity agenda that is working.

Let us not gamble with the future of our state. Every market woman in Lokoja, every farmer in Ajaokuta, every youth in Ankpa, every Okun son and daughter and every Kogite at home and in the diaspora has a reason to make Ododo’s second term a personal project. This is For continuity and stability.
