Delta Commissioner Praises Oborevwori’s Fiscal Discipline, Links Prudence to Development
Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for disciplined financial management, saying prudent deployment of public resources is driving infrastructure and socio-economic development across the state.
Tonukari made the remarks during a courtesy visit by members of the Ethiope East chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to his country home in Isiokolo. The visit took place ahead of the group’s inauguration on July 24, 2026.
He credited the governor’s commitment to accountability, transparency and prudent fiscal management with enabling the state to implement major projects across critical sectors without unduly straining the treasury.
“Our governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has demonstrated exceptional prudence in the management of public funds. His disciplined approach to governance has made it possible for the state to undertake and complete impactful projects across different sectors while maintaining fiscal stability,” Tonukari said.
The commissioner attributed recent achievements in his ministry and across the state to the governor’s visionary leadership and support, adding that the administration’s progress stems from effective planning and judicious use of resources.
He reassured residents of the government’s ongoing commitment to sustained investment in education and other strategic sectors.
Chief Julius Eguvwebere, leader of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors delegation, said the visit aimed to recognise Tonukari’s contributions to Ethiope East Local Government Area and to express confidence in his leadership. Eguvwebere noted the commissioner’s developmental impact across the council’s 11 wards and praised his dedication to education and community development.
He also reiterated the group’s commitment to mobilising grassroots support for the policies and programmes of both the Delta State and Federal governments.
The meeting ended with both sides expressing optimism that continued collaboration between government and community organisations would advance development and deepen citizen participation in governance.0
