Political unity is the foundation on which any society builds real progress and influence. When a people speak with one voice and work toward common goals, they gain more respect, bargaining power, and results at all levels. Division, on the other hand, weakens representation and makes it difficult to attract development.
In Nigeria’s democratic system, numbers and cohesion determine how much influence a state or group has in decision-making. When leaders and citizens of Kogi West, for example, present a united front, it becomes easier to lobby for projects, appointments, and resources. But a divided house cannot negotiate effectively because opposing voices cancel each other out. Unity ensures that the interests of the people are represented strongly in the center.
The Need for the Okun Nation to rally behind His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Servant of Kogi State and ensure his reelection in 2027 cannot be overemphasized. From the day an Okene man, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello took over the Leadership of Kogi State as a Governor, the Okun Nation have been enjoying juicy positions of Leadership and unprecedented development have been attracted to the Area as well.
In the Areas of Appointment, our daughter, Dr. Folashade Ayoade Arike PhD, served as the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State under Yahaya Bello’s tenure today, she’s maintaining same position under Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo. Commodore Jerry Omodara served as State Security Adviser to Former Governor Yahaya Bello and he’s still serving in same position till date under the Chief Servant of the State. Hon. Mukadam Asiru Idris – Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning have been serving in that position from Bello’s tenure and still serving till date. Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information, is another example and a whole lot of other who were also appointed as Cabinet Members in the Confluence. The Okun sons and daughters are also serving as Special and Senior Special Advisers at the State level. We also have DGs, Heads of Agencies and lots more.
It was during the administration of an Ebiraman (Yahaya Adoza Bello) that we saw our long time dream become a reality – Kogi State University Kabba. He gave a Rice Mill, good Road Networks and so many other infrastructures. His predecessor, Alhaji Usman Ododo has been building on the legacies. Silently, he’s changing narratives for good and we are proud of him.

For us in Kogi West, especially the Okuns who have been hoping that one day, one of our sons will serve as the Executive Governor of the Confluence State must stay united and speak with a voice to ensure the reelection for the incumbent in the coming elections because we cannot become without the collaboration of the people of the Central Senatorial District. We will endu up shooting ourselves on the leg if we do otherwise ahead of 2027 General Election in Kogi State.
I am advising the people of Okun land to maintain peace, cooperation and ensure political stability because when political leaders put aside personal interests and work together, we will be able to grab attention and make our request known at the right time. Unity between party members, traditional rulers and citizens creates the enabling environment for more of such gains. Political gains require continuity of support for leadership. A united political base also makes it easier to mobilize support during elections, which translates to more representation and influence.
The need for unity cannot be overemphasized. When we speak with one voice, support our leaders, and prioritize collective interest over personal ambition, we position ourselves to attract more development, appointments, and influence. As the saying goes, “united we stand, divided we fall.” Ahead of the 2027 General Elections, we must make Unity our watchword and as well, put aside personal interest that will likely jeopardize our collective interest in the future.
