2027: Over 5,000 U3 Youths Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori, Dafinone, Waive, APC Candidates at Delta Summit
…Urge Youths to Embrace Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Peace
More than 5,000 youths from Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu (U3) Federal Constituency on Saturday unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, Hon. Francis Waive and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made during the U3 Youth Wing 2026 Youth Engagement Summit, held at Emmanuel Uduaghan Hall, Ovwor-Olomu, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The summit, themed “Connecting Youths to Government Initiatives,” focused on youth empowerment, leadership development, entrepreneurship and active participation in governance.
The motion endorsing the APC candidates was moved by the Youth Leader of the U3 Youth Wing, Chief Hope Ejiro, seconded by the Female Youth Leader, Miss Sandra Akpoguma, and unanimously adopted by thousands of participants.
The event attracted prominent APC leaders and government officials, including Senator Ede Dafinone, Hon. Francis Waive, Special Guest Mr. Fred Sheriff Oborevwori Jnr., National Chairman of U3, Chief John Oguma, National Secretary, Hon. Festus Agas Samuel Mariere, National Publicity Secretary of U3 and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, APC House of Assembly candidate for Ughelli North Constituency II, Chief Joseph Okoro, APC House of Assembly candidate for Udu, Mr. Benjamin Sharta, alongside other party leaders.
Youth Engagement and Government Initiatives
In his welcome address, Chief Hope Ejiro said the summit was organised to strengthen the relationship between young people and government by creating opportunities for dialogue, participation and inclusion in governance.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Kingsley Akeni said governments at both federal and state levels had continued to implement programmes aimed at improving the welfare of young people through job creation, infrastructure development and human capital investment.
He cited initiatives such as D-CARES, NELFUND, bursary schemes and scholarship programmes as evidence of ongoing investments in youth development.
Akeni further stated that Delta State’s alignment with the Federal Government had positioned the state to attract greater development opportunities, urging youths to sustain peace and security in their communities.
Oguma Charges Youths on Leadership
National Chairman of U3, Chief John Oguma, encouraged young people to prepare themselves for future leadership roles, describing them as the future of the constituency and the nation.
He called on APC members to remain united and work towards ensuring victory for all party candidates in the 2027 elections.
Oguma also defended the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal policy, saying it was introduced to strengthen the economy and provide funding for critical infrastructure.
He pointed to the completion of the Ughelli–Asaba Expressway and ongoing flyover projects across Delta State as evidence of government commitment to development.
Oborevwori Jnr. Advocates Responsible Leadership
Special Guest, Mr. Fred Sheriff Oborevwori Jnr., urged youths to embrace responsible political participation, entrepreneurship and community service.
He encouraged them to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, noting that Nigeria’s future depended on the vision, competence and character of its younger generation.
Oborevwori Jnr. also commended the organisers for providing a platform where youths could exchange ideas, build partnerships and contribute to sustainable development.
Dafinone Highlights Youth Employment Opportunities
Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, said youth development remained central to his legislative agenda..
He explained that his first three years in the Senate had focused largely on creating employment opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship and promoting skills acquisition among young people.
The senator disclosed that his recent appointment as Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had created additional opportunities for constituents seeking federal employment.
He encouraged qualified youths to apply for vacancies in federal agencies, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and submit their application slips to his office for necessary support.
According to him, many qualified applicants often miss employment opportunities due to lack of political support, assuring constituents that assistance from his office would remain transparent and free of charge.
Dafinone revealed that several youths from the constituency had already secured employment in agencies such as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police Force through his interventions.
Waive Calls for Unity Ahead of 2027
Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Francis Waive, represented by Chief Bunor Agbomedarho, urged the youths to remain united and mobilise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said Delta State was fortunate to have Governor Sheriff Oborevwori providing leadership at the state level while President Tinubu continued implementing policies aimed at repositioning Nigeria.
Award, Business Grants Highlight Summit
Speaking on behalf of the APC House of Assembly candidates in the constituency, Mr. Benjamin Sharta praised the organisers for investing in youth development, describing young people as critical to the future of the constituency.

A major highlight of the summit was the presentation of an Award of Recognition to Mr. Fred Sheriff Oborevwori Jnr. for his contributions to youth development and empowerment within the U3 Federal Constituency.
Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, also commended the organisers and urged participants to continue supporting programmes that promote youth empowerment, peace, unity and community development.
The event also featured the presentation of cash grants to selected youths to support their businesses, reinforcing the organisers’ commitment to entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
