Ogorugba Celebrates Two Years of Development in Isoko North
The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has highlighted the major achievements of his administration as it marks two years in office, stating that the GODWIN Agenda has become the driving force behind grassroots development, improved welfare, inclusiveness, and people-oriented governance across the council.
Speaking during the anniversary celebration of his administration, Ogorugba said the policy framework was deliberately designed to align with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, ensuring that residents of Isoko North benefit from sustainable development and quality service delivery.

He explained that these guiding principles have shaped every policy and programme implemented by his administration since assuming office on July 15, 2024.

Peace and Security Drive Development
Ogorugba noted that his administration placed peace and security at the centre of governance through regular engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations, political stakeholders, and security agencies.
He stressed that lasting development can only flourish in a peaceful environment, adding that improved security has created a favourable atmosphere for investment and economic growth throughout the local government.
The chairman listed several landmark projects and investments attracted to Isoko North during the past two years, including:
Upgrade of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro to Southern Delta University
Establishment of the College of Health Technology, Ovrode
Completion of the Ozoro Modern Market
Construction of the Emevor-Orogun Road
Commencement of oil exploration activities by Sterling Global Plc
Increased local participation in Tantita Security Services
Establishment of new private businesses
Digital skills training and empowerment of over 100 youths
He described these developments as evidence of expanding economic opportunities for residents.
Infrastructure Development Across 13 Wards
Prince Ogorugba said his administration has embarked on numerous infrastructure projects across all 13 wards of Isoko North.
These include:
Construction of a new council administrative complex
Perimeter fencing of the council secretariat
Rehabilitation of internal roads
Construction of a staff clinic
Renovation of community markets
Rehabilitation of roads in several communities
Construction of classroom blocks
Provision of nursing quarters
Rehabilitation of water projects
Ongoing construction works at the Otor-Igho Cottage Hospital
According to him, the projects are aimed at improving public service delivery and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
The chairman also highlighted significant improvements in workers’ welfare, saying his administration has consistently ensured:
Prompt payment of salaries
Settlement of salary arrears
Payment of gratuities
Conversion of casual workers into the Delta State Local Government Service Commission
He noted that these measures have boosted staff morale and strengthened productivity within the local government system.
Ogorugba said his administration’s open-door policy has encouraged active community participation by appointing more than 200 political aides, who regularly provide feedback on political developments, security matters, and community needs.
He described the initiative as a key strategy for ensuring responsive and inclusive governance.
In the education sector, the council chairman disclosed that his administration introduced the free distribution of educational materials to pupils in all 43 public primary schools within the local government.

Exercise books
Sandals
Other learning materials
The administration also sponsored free Primary Six examination registration for eligible pupils and commenced the distribution of soya milk to children aged between one and eight years to improve nutrition and child development.
Reflecting on the administration’s two-year journey, Prince Godwin Ogorugba expressed confidence that the achievements recorded under the GODWIN Agenda have laid a solid foundation for greater progress.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining people-centred governance, expanding development initiatives, and delivering more dividends of democracy to residents of Isoko North Local Government Area.
