Osikoya Honoured as ‘Amazon of Humanitarian Service’

Political office holders in Kogi State have commended the leadership of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), Ganaja Township, for its visit and inspection of the Ladi Memorial Foundation Skill Acquisition Centre in Ganaja.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of ICDA Ganaja Township, Prince Idoko Daniel Ogacheko, was received by officials of the Ladi Memorial Foundation at the skill acquisition centre.

Speaking on behalf of the Kogi State Government, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Grassroots Sensitisation, Hon. Monday Ejiga, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mobilisation, Ankpa Federal Constituency, Hon. Malik Sani Gabaidu, applauded the ICDA leadership for undertaking the visit.

They said the initiative demonstrated the willingness of the Ganaja community to partner with relevant stakeholders in attracting development and empowerment opportunities to the area.

The government representatives also appreciated the traditional rulers for their roles in promoting peace, unity and harmonious coexistence in Ganaja Township.

They assured that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remained committed to supporting programmes designed to empower youths and women and promote self-reliance in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Osikoya Commended for Establishing Centre

Speaking during the visit, Prince Idoko Daniel Ogacheko commended the former Kogi State Commissioner for Education and Environment and Technical Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Mrs. Rosemary Ojochenemi Osikoya, for facilitating the establishment of the centre in Ganaja and its environs.

He described the centre as an important development opportunity for residents, particularly young people seeking practical skills and pathways to self-reliance.

As part of the programme, an Award of Excellence, titled “Amazon of Humanitarian Service,” was presented to Osikoya by Chief Dr. Labaran Oyigebe, former Chairman of Omala Local Government Area and current Commissioner of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, on behalf of ICDA Ganaja Township.

The award recognised her contributions to education, environmental development and humanitarian service to the Igala nation and Kogi State.

Traditional Rulers, Stakeholders Attend

Among those present were Her Royal Highness Ajia Aishat Muhammad, Iyebule Ganaja Onyeeeteee; Comr. Suleiman Idachaba, Chairman, Keke Riders Association, Ganaja-Ajaokuta; His Royal Highness Onu Igala Gadumo and Ogohi Ata of Igala Kingdom, Chief Yahaya Salifu; His Royal Highness Onu Igala Jingbe and Olimene Ata of Igala Kingdom, Chief Idris Abdulrahaman; and His Royal Highness Onu Igala Emiworo, Chief Abdullahi Idris.

Also in attendance were Chief Dr. Isah Peter Obele, Mr. God’s Power, ICDA PRO Ganaja, Mr. Iyodo Gabriel and other stakeholders.

Responding, Osikoya thanked the government representatives, traditional rulers and ICDA leadership for the visit.

She described it as the first royal visit to the centre and said the gesture would motivate the management to do more.

She also acknowledged the Federal Government’s partnership with the foundation through the Federal Ministry of Education.

In his royal blessings, Chief Dr. Labaran Oyigebe, Akohiaka Ata of Igala Kingdom, prayed for ancestral blessings upon the management and urged students of the centre to take their studies seriously.

The ICDA leadership pledged to sustain its partnership with the Ladi Memorial Foundation and other stakeholders towards ensuring that the centre produces skilled manpower capable of contributing to the development of Ganaja Township and Kogi State.
