Ika South Commences N50,000 Bursary Disbursement to Students
The Ika South Local Government Council has commenced the disbursement of bursaries to students from the area, with each successful beneficiary receiving N50,000 under the council’s educational support initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence and easing financial burdens on students.
Announcing the commencement of the payment exercise, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, said the bursary scheme reflects his administration’s commitment to education, youth empowerment, and human capital development.
The programme, coordinated through the Ika South Students Bursary Scheme, is designed to support students in tertiary institutions and encourage them to remain focused on their academic pursuits.
Ehiwarior noted that education remains a vital tool for development and nation-building, stressing that his administration would continue to invest in programmes that empower young people and provide them with opportunities to attain their full potential.
According to him, the bursary initiative is intended to reduce the financial burden on students and their families while fostering a culture of academic excellence among beneficiaries.
“We officially commenced the disbursement of Ika South students’ bursaries today, reaffirming our commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of our young people. This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on students and encouraging academic excellence across our communities,” he said.
The council chairman congratulated all successful applicants and urged them to remain diligent in their studies, noting that the knowledge and skills they acquire would prepare them to become responsible leaders and valuable contributors to society.
He further emphasized that building a better future through education remains a major priority of his administration.
A statement issued to mark the commencement of the payment exercise confirmed that bursary payments had begun, with N50,000 already being credited to each successful beneficiary.
The statement described the initiative as a demonstration of the Jerry Ehiwarior-led administration’s dedication to education, youth empowerment, and sustainable human capital development in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
