Easter: Kogi NUP felicitates Ododo, Christians, urges Pensioners to collect KOSHIA cards
The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Engr. Clement Otori Ohida, on behalf of senior citizens in the state, has extended warm Easter felicitations to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, his deputy, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu, Christians, and the entire people of the state as they mark the 2026 Easter celebration, which signifies the end of the 40-day Lenten period and commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja, the state capital, Engr. Ohida called on citizens to renew their faith in God and remain steadfast in prayers for the nation to overcome its current human, infrastructural, and security challenges. He emphasized that Easter remains a powerful reminder of God’s enduring love for humanity, demonstrated through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son for the redemption and salvation of mankind.
The NUP chairman urged both Christians and non-Christians to embrace the enduring virtues of love, compassion, tolerance, sacrifice, and forgiveness as exemplified in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
According to him, Christ, revered as the “Prince of Peace,” offers humanity hope and the assurance that society can rise above its present difficulties.
Engr. Ohida further appealed to residents of the state to uphold peace and harmony while cooperating with security agencies to maintain law and order.
He also called for continued prayers for Governor Ododo, his deputy, and members of the state executive council, seeking divine guidance for them to make decisions that will positively impact the lives of the people, particularly the less privileged.
On the welfare of retirees, the NUP chairman used the occasion to urge registered pensioners who are yet to collect their identity cards under the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme (KOSHIA) to do so without delay.
He directed affected individuals to visit the NUP State Secretariat located at Zone 8 Junction, behind Helping Hand Hospital in Lokoja, to retrieve their cards.
He disclosed that a significant number of retirees who enrolled in the scheme across Lokoja and other local government areas have not collected their identity cards, noting that many of the unclaimed cards are currently available at the union’s secretariat awaiting collection.
Engr. Ohida explained that the importance of collecting the cards lies in enabling pensioners to access affordable, cost-effective, and quality healthcare services provided under the state government’s health insurance initiative.
He, therefore, wished all retirees, the Christian faithful, and the people of Kogi State a joyful Easter celebration, urging them to remain committed in prayers for the continued progress of the state and the nation at large.
