Forum Says Political Unity Needed to Strengthen APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to caution his political appointees against actions capable of creating unnecessary divisions among party members in the area.

The appeal was made during a reconciliation meeting organised by the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council and represented by the Supervisor for Works and Housing, Dalami Usman Garkuwa.

Speaking through its Chairman, Alhaji Musa Ozeremi, the forum said the APC could only remain strong if all stakeholders were given the opportunity to participate in party affairs and governance.

The elders expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman for what they described as his commitment to reconciliation and inclusive leadership.

They said his approach had helped to restore confidence among some party members who felt disconnected from the government.

The forum alleged that relations between some stakeholders and the government had deteriorated because of the activities of certain political appointees.

It therefore called on Governor Sule to caution such appointees and direct them to work with all stakeholders irrespective of political differences.

According to the elders, the APC needs unity, consultation and grassroots engagement to successfully navigate the political activities leading to the 2027 general elections.

They urged the Governor to ensure that his appointees engage directly with party members and electorate instead of relying mainly on social media publicity.

The forum said political communication should be complemented with physical engagement with communities and stakeholders.

The elders also maintained that Toto has a history of delivering electoral support to the APC, urging the government to recognise the contributions of grassroots party members who, according to them, have worked consistently for the party.

They said reconciliation should remain a priority and called on all APC stakeholders in Toto to put aside personal differences in the interest of the partgovernment.local government.
