The over 100-page publication chronicles his political career from his emergence in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in 2015 to his outstanding accomplishments as Speaker and constituency representative.
A Journey of Leadership and Service
The book traces Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi’s rise from grassroots politics to becoming Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. It highlights how he was unanimously elected Speaker on June 9, 2015, and re-elected unopposed on June 10, 2019, making history through his leadership style and legislative excellence.
It also documents his efforts in promoting peace, strengthening democratic governance, sponsoring impactful private member bills, and facilitating the installation of the Ohinoye Ogye stool in Toto Local Government Area after a 13-year vacancy.
Record-Breaking Legislative Achievements
One of the major highlights of the publication is the unprecedented legislative performance recorded under Balarabe’s leadership.
Upon assuming office in 2015, he inherited a politically divided Assembly following the impeachment crisis involving former Governor UmarubTanko Al-Makura. Through inclusive leadership and dialogue, he restored confidence, unity and cordial relations between the Executive and the Legislature.
Under his watch, the Assembly became one of Nigeria’s most active state legislatures in oversight responsibilities and lawmaking.
The number of bills passed into law since 1999 includes:
First Assembly – 33 Bills
Second Assembly – 20 Bills
Third Assembly – 31 Bills
Fourth Assembly – 45 Bills
Fifth Assembly – 48 Bills
Sixth Assembly under Balarabe – 60 Bills (as of November 2022)
The record places his administration as the highest-performing Assembly in terms of legislation since the creation of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
National and International Recognition
Balarabe Abdullahi became the first Speaker from Nasarawa State to receive the Presidential Schools Debate Nigeria Award as the Best Speaker in North Central Nigeria, presented by the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

His second anniversary featured another empowerment programme valued at over ₦16 million, including wrappers, sewing machines, financial grants, scholarships, refrigerators and power generators for women leaders.
During the first six months of his second tenure, another ₦16 million empowerment programme benefited students, women, farmers and youths through scholarships, business grants, sewing machines, grinding machines, wrappers, water pumps, herbicides and agricultural sprayers.
He also installed 350 solar-powered streetlights across 23 communities at a cost of ₦23.5 million.
