Oyo Abducted Victims: Be Accountable to God, Nigerians, Senator Onawo Tells Leaders
Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has urged political leaders across Nigeria to remain accountable to both God and the Nigerian people in fulfilling their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property amid the country’s persistent security challenges.
The lawmaker, who represents Nasarawa South Senatorial District on the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement> (APM), made the appeal while reacting to the safe rescue of pupils and teachers who were abducted in the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State and held captive for about 56 days.

Speaking on Sunday, Senator Onawo commended the security agencies, the Oyo State Government and Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as the sincerity, maturity and commitment demonstrated in handling the rescue operation.
He also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to adopt a more comprehensive approach towards securing the release of other Nigerians still being held captive by kidnappers and bandits in different parts of the country.
According to the senator, security agencies should intensify ongoing operations to ensure that all abducted victims regain their freedom as quickly as possible.
While expressing sympathy to families who lost loved ones during the abduction and rescue operation, Senator Onawo paid tribute to teachers and security personnel who died in the course of the incident.
He further wished the rescued pupils and teachers a speedy recovery and urged governments at all levels to provide adequate medical, psychological and financial support to help the victims recover from the traumatic experience.
The senator also congratulated the leadership of the Allied Peoples’ Movement, particularly the party’s National Chairman, over what he described as a significant security breakthrough, while encouraging the party to continue playing its role as a constructive opposition in Nigeria’s democratic process.
He stressed that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remains the foremost responsibility of every government and called on leaders to discharge that duty with diligence and accountability.
