Sir Itiako Malik Ikpokpo has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his political associates to close ranks and mobilise overwhelming grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ikpokpo made the appeal on Wednesday during the second meeting of the Ikpokpo Political Family held at his country home in Uro-Irri, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The meeting attracted coordinators from the eight local government areas of Delta South Senatorial District, alongside members of the political family from Isoko South and Isoko North Local Government Areas.

Addressing the gathering, Ikpokpo said the meeting was convened to strengthen unity within the political family, provide members with an avenue to express their concerns and chart a common political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

He admitted that his withdrawal from the APC Delta South Senatorial District primary election was a difficult experience but maintained that he had moved beyond the setback in the overall interest of the party.

«”The circumstances surrounding my withdrawal from the primary were unpleasant, but I have moved on. As a loyal party member, I am fully committed to working for the overwhelming victory of the APC in the 2027 general elections,” Ikpokpo stated.»

The former Director-General of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Managing Director of Dunamis Icon Limited described the APC as Nigeria’s strongest political platform, expressing confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.

Reflecting on his tenure as Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council between 2014 and 2021, Ikpokpo recalled that local councils struggled with monthly allocation deficits ranging from ₦24 million to ₦40 million.

According to him, the financial fortunes of states and local governments have improved under the Tinubu administration, attributing the development to ongoing economic reforms initiated by the Federal Government.

He also praised President Tinubu for championing state policing reforms, describing the initiative as a bold and strategic step toward tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.

While acknowledging that the country continues to face economic and governance hurdles, Ikpokpo expressed optimism that Nigeria is steadily moving towards economic recovery under the current administration.

The APC chieftain equally commended Governor Oborevwori for his infrastructure development initiatives and inclusive style of governance, saying the governor has demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering people-oriented projects while promoting party unity and stakeholder engagement across Delta State.

Ikpokpo urged aggrieved members of the APC to put aside personal grievances and embrace reconciliation, insisting that only a united party could secure victory at the polls in 2027.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by party faithful to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure and ensure a successful outing for the party in Delta State during the next general elections.
