The question of whether leaders are born or Made remains an unsolved puzzle on the surface of earth. The reason is not far fetched from the fact that everyone has explanations to support their claims.

To me, the question of whether they are born or made is not what matters but their performance – including existing legacies, people they raised, lives touched, positive impacts made, amongst others while occupying Leadership positions.

In Kogi State, there were Leaders before the coming of Yahaya Adoza Bello – the former Governor. Be it as it may, his legacies and silent achievements remain in the front burner of every discussion in many corners, not just within Kogi but across the Country and even beyond.

His emergence was divine and the things Yahaya Adoza Bello did as a Governor in Kogi were unprecedented. In the area of performance, Yahaya Bello did the unthinkable. The people of Okunland will not forget him in a hurry. Kabba was the Headquarters of Kabba Province then and the only Headquarters Province that did not had a higher Institution – either Federal or State. But he (Yahaya Bello) came and redeemed that image.

At first we thought it was a political gimmick but he stayed true to his words and for the first time, he gave us a University. No Okun man – except those that are daft, that will not appreciate the efforts of F-GYB. He shifted the College of Education Kabba to Mopa. The College of Education Kabba, was like “a glorified secondary school” before he relocated it following the establishment of Kogi State University (KSU) Kabba. Today, go to Mopa and see the edifice there. This was gotten through the Visionary leadership of the Former Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Not only that, the way he empowered our youth and touched all nooks and crannies remains unprecedented. He gave us SSG, ALGON Chairman, and Speaker for a good 8 years. In the Area of Women, he ensured women are made Vice Chairpersons of all Local Government Areas – first time in the history of Kogi State, and a woman was the SSG in Kogi throughout his period.

Yahaya Bello to us is God sent and we owe him praises and honour for what he did for us in Kogi West and the State as a whole.

Criticism and lack of ability to appreciate the good deeds people always run in the vein of humans. Awolowo was criticised for doing good. Tell me past leaders with good track records that were not criticised 🤔

F-GYB came, he saw and conquered. He is our hero and a leader of note whose impact and legacies will continue to stand the test of time, both in the State and the Country.
