Tinubu’s CBN Investigator Seeks Trial of Buhari, Boss Mustapha Over Alleged $6.2m Forex Fraud

The Special Investigator appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to probe the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under former Governor Godwin Emefiele, Mr Jim Obaze, has called for the prosecution of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, over their alleged roles in the controversial $6.2 million foreign exchange transaction.

Obaze, in his report, recommended that the late Buhari be posthumously prosecuted, alleging that he was complicit in the withdrawal of $6.2 million from the Federal Government’s Foreign Exchange Account domiciled at the CBN.

The investigator also urged that Boss Mustapha be arraigned alongside former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele to answer charges relating to the disputed transaction.

The recommendations form part of the findings submitted by the special investigator following his probe into the operations of the apex bank during Emefiele’s tenure.

The allegations have not been determined by any court, and no formal charges have yet been announced against the individuals named.
