Politics from the onset has always been a game of number. No Politician or Political Party can thrive in isolation no matter how hard they try. Political affiliation is vital because it structures democratic processes, allowing citizens to aggregate their interests, hold leaders accountable, and participate in governance. It simplifies voting decisions, mobilizes communities, and facilitates policy-making within legislative bodies.
Today in Kogi State, the alignment between notable political figures with the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s led administration have been quite interesting. It is most interesting to know that even key players of other political Parties are already decamping to rally behind the performing Chief Servant of the Confluence State.
One of such alignment is that of Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, the incumbent and two time House of Representatives Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency and the Former Chairman, Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Funsho Olumoko, with Governor Ododo is one that is bringing happiness to my heart as a person.
Hon. (Elder) Leke Abejide and Hon. Funsho Olumoko are prominent political figures from Okunland and they are playing key roles in the state’s shifting political alliances, particularly in rallying support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration in Kogi West.
Serving as the Chairman of the Committee on Customs and Excise, Hon. Leke is known for his extensive philanthropic and empowerment programs. The Former Governorship candidate of the ADC in Kogi State has aligned with the state’s leadership to push for regional development.
Hon. Funsho Olumoko: A veteran politician and former Local Government Chairman, a respected elder statesman in Kogi West who champions cooperation between the Kogi West and Kogi Central senatorial districts recent political alliance with Governor Ododo is super commendable because I know for sure that the people stands to benefit more from it.
While both are working closely with the current state administration, their influence at the grassroots has continued to increase because the people knows Leaders that has their interest at heart. Such leaders, they will follow to the very end because they know that they will benefit more from the dividends of democracy having them at the forefront.
In the Areas of Empowerment, Quality representation, Education, Regards for traditional rulers, community development, employment and lots more, Hon. Leke Abejide have been living above board and he will do more now that he has moved to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC. With the duo of Hon. Leke and Hon. Olumoko teaming with Gov. Ododo, his victory is assured because they will leave no stone unturned at mobilising for his Reelection in the coming elections in Kogi State.
As we continue to count down days to the election, it is important for more people even those in the opposition to align with the government of the day and the people needs to be more united and speak with a voice. When we work together, speak with one voice pursuing a goal, then we will be able to gain more relevance and have our requests attended to. Division will take us nowhere, we must therefore, come together as a people to deliver His Excellency, Governor Usman Ododo come 2027 to enable the West transit smoothly into power after Ododo’s administration.
