….Pro-Ari Campaigners “Business-Driven, Non-Partisan Actors

A coalition of youths in Nasarawa Local Government Area has thrown its weight behind Hon. Muhammed Mahmud Awal for the Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency seat, urging the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Abdulmumini Ari, not to seek a third term in 2027.

The group warned that any attempt by the lawmaker to contest again would be resisted during party primaries, insisting that his continued stay in office is unacceptable.

According to the youths, those pushing for Ari’s return are “non-partisan, business-driven individuals” who are more interested in personal gains than effective representation of the constituency.

Speaking during a protest on Monday, the group’s leader, Mallam Kuira Sadiq Udege, expressed disappointment over what he described as efforts by a few individuals to “repackage” the lawmaker for another term after eight years in office.

He stressed the need to respect an existing zoning arrangement between Nasarawa and Toto local government areas, noting that it is the turn of Toto to produce the next representative.

“We had an agreement on zoning between Nasarawa and Toto. It is surprising that some individuals from Nasarawa are still showing interest in the race despite knowing that it is Toto’s turn,” he said.

Udege questioned the achievements of the incumbent, arguing that there was little to justify another bid for office.

“What has he achieved in the National Assembly that he now seeks to return for? Does he still have the conscience to ask for another mandate?” he queried.

The group endorsed Hon. Muhammed Mahmud Awal, describing him as a vocal and capable administrator who can provide quality representation for the constituency.

They noted that Awal, a former legislative aide to the late Rt. Hon. Musa Baba Onwana, demonstrated competence and contributed significantly during his service, adding that Onwana’s legacy remains evident.

The youths further called on constituents to disregard aspirants from Nasarawa Local Government, noting that many of them are disconnected from grassroots realities and do not have the best interests of the area at heart.
