Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi Local Government Area have declared their support for Ustaz Zakari Ola as the preferred aspirant for the Kogi West Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, in a statement issued on April 26, 2026, also reaffirmed its commitment to party unity, internal democracy, and the continued electoral success of the APC across the Kogi West Senatorial District.

Describing Kogi LGA as a stronghold of the ruling party, the stakeholders noted that the area boasts a loyal and politically conscious membership base that has consistently delivered victories for the APC in previous elections.

They stressed that as the 2027 polls draw closer, the party must consolidate its strength by promoting inclusiveness, fairness, and credibility, particularly in the conduct of its primaries.

According to the stakeholders, extensive consultations with ward leaders, youth groups, women leaders, and key opinion leaders across the local government revealed a growing consensus in favour of Zakari Ola.

They said the endorsement was based on his perceived integrity, grassroots appeal, and commitment to party cohesion and effective representation.

The group added that presenting a candidate with broad-based acceptance and a proven track record of loyalty to the party would significantly boost the APC’s chances of retaining and strengthening its mandate in Kogi West.

The stakeholders, therefore, called on the leadership of the APC at all levels to ensure a transparent, credible, and level playing field during the primaries, noting that such a process would further strengthen unity within the party.

They also urged party members and supporters to remain peaceful, focused, and committed to the collective interest of the APC as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
