Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State was abuzz with celebration as the Osana of Keana, Dr. Abdullahi Amegwa Agbo, crowned and confirmed the appointment of Salihu Adamu Eladoga as the Hakimin Keana South.

Eladoga, who is a brother to the member representing Keana Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, was formally installed at a colourful ceremony attended by traditional rulers, political leaders and well-wishers from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the royal father said the appointment followed careful consideration of the new Hakimi’s antecedents, loyalty to the palace and proven track record of service.

He charged him to remain steadfast in his allegiance to the traditional institution and to promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in the area.

The monarch further urged the new traditional title holder to sustain his good character and work harmoniously with all stakeholders to advance unity, preserve the cultural heritage of Keana, and contribute to the overall development of the domain.

Earlier, Hon. Omadefu, who read the citation of the celebrant, noted that Eladoga was born in 1942 and had served meritoriously in various capacities, including as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) from 2006 to 2010.

He added that the new Hakimi was appointed Village Head of Abiri in 2022, a position he held until his latest elevation.

Former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, alongside the member representing Uke/Karshi constituency, Hon. Musa Saidu Gude, and other dignitaries, congratulated the new Hakimin Keana South and urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him by the traditional council and the people.

In his acceptance speech, Eladoga expressed gratitude to the Osana for finding him worthy of the honour, pledging to work tirelessly to foster peace, unity and development across Keana South and the entire local government area.

He called on residents to support his leadership and collaborate with the traditional institution and government authorities to sustain harmony in the community.

Also speaking, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Shehu Abubakar, described the appointment as well deserved, urging the new Hakimi to lead with the fear of God and a deep sense of responsibility.

He appealed to the people of Keana South to rally behind him in preserving the rich cultural heritage of the area.

The ceremony drew a large turnout of prominent sons and daughters of Keana, government officials, and representatives of various ethnic groups, including Tiv, Migili and Fulani communities.

Guests were treated to vibrant cultural displays by Tiv and Migili troupes, adding colour and excitement to the historic occasion.
