The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has been commended for his consistent commitment to grassroots development across Kogi Local Government and beyond.

The Councilor representing Gegu North Ward in Gegu Beki, Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Victoria Joseph Ababo gave the commendation while commenting on the stewardship of the Commissioner since his assumption of Office.

Hon. Victoria noted that Engr. Gegu’s interventions have continued to bring visible relief and opportunities to families at the grassroots, describing him as a leader who understands the needs of ordinary citizens.

According to Hon. Victoria, the impact of the people’s Commissioner is most evident in rural communities where he has prioritized education support, small business empowerment, and access to basic social services.

She noted that his targeted assistance for vulnerable households is a clear example of leadership that puts people first, stressing that he is second to none in terms of grassroots engagement.

“Grassroots impact cannot be measured only by projects, but by how leaders show up when duty calls
“Our Leader and mentor has maintained open communication with constituents and has remained accessible to community leaders, market women, and young people seeking support. His commitment is not seasonal. It has been very steady, and that is why the people trust him,” she noted.

Hon. Victoria urged other public office holders to emulate Engr. Bashir Gegu’s model of people-centered service, expressing confidence that sustaining such grassroots-focused initiatives will strengthen community resilience and build greater confidence in governance across Kogi.
