The State Coordinator of DELCOM and Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., said the programme reflects the governor’s commitment to continuous human capital development, professional excellence and effective communication of government policies and programmes.

Oghenesivbe said DELCOM had evolved into a strategic platform for sharpening the skills of media aides to the governor, media partners, information officers and Public Relations Officers serving in ministries, departments and agencies across the state.

According to him, the workshop is a deliberate investment in building a skilled and responsive communication architecture capable of strengthening public trust, promoting accountability and improving citizen engagement.

He noted that the rapid growth of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, misinformation and emerging media technologies had made continuous professional development increasingly important for government communicators.

The 2026 edition will expose participants to contemporary communication tools and practical strategies for navigating the changing media environment.

Sessions will cover digital communication, strategic media relations, reputation and crisis management, peace journalism, public information management and effective message development.

The workshop will also provide opportunities for professional interaction, knowledge sharing and peer learning among communication practitioners.

Oghenesivbe disclosed that communication scholars and professionals, including Professor Presley Obukadata, Professor Joyce Ogwezi and Dr. Rita Abamba, will serve as trainers at the workshop.

He said the resource persons were selected based on their expertise and experience, adding that the practical orientation of the programme would enable participants to communicate more responsibly and effectively.
