The upgrade of the stool of the Olu of Apata, HRH Oba Fredrick Durojaiye Balogun, from a second-class to a first-class chief, has been described as well-deserved and timely for the people of the Kingdom.
The Babogunwa of Igbaruku, High Chief Richard Asaje, in a congratulatory message, noted that the monarch’s elevation comes at a critical time when Apata needs stronger traditional leadership to attract government attention and developmental projects.
He ointed out that Oba Frederick’s reputation for peace-building and community service positions him to unite the people and work with government institutions to bring more dividends of democracy to the Area.
He explained that he has been watching closely, the Traditional rulers efforts in partnering with the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute to drive youth development and empowerment programs to equip young people in the community with technical, vocational, and digital skills that will make them self-reliant and globally competitive.
Chief Asaje who is the Founder and National Coordinator, Like Minds Alliance Pressure Group, also praised Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his commitment and regards for traditional rulers, expressing optimism that the Oba Frederick will live beyond expectations in the discharge of statutory obligations to the people of the Community.
Asaje called on the people of Apata to rally behind the Oba and support his vision for peace and progress, adding that with unity between the palace, government agencies, and development partners, Apata will witness more infrastructure, skills centers, and youth-focused initiatives in the coming years.
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo upgraded the stool of the Olu of Apata, HRH Oba Fredrick Durojaiye Balogun, from a second-class chief to a first-class chief on July 16th, 2026 at the 7th Oladele John-Nihi (OJN) Symposium in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.
