The two Nasarawa political figures were reportedly seen participating in religious activities during their visit to the holy land.

Their journey highlights the spiritual importance of pilgrimage among Muslims, particularly the opportunity it provides for prayer, reflection, repentance and seeking Allah’s blessings.

Why Umrah Is Important to Muslims

Umrah, commonly referred to as the Lesser Hajj, is a pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed throughout the year. Unlike Hajj, which takes place during specific days of Dhul-Hijjah, Umrah offers Muslims an opportunity to undertake a spiritual journey outside the annual Hajj period.

The major rites include entering Ihram, performing Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba, undertaking Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and shaving or trimming the hair.

For many believers, the pilgrimage is an opportunity to renew their faith, seek forgiveness for their shortcomings and strengthen their relationship with Allah.

Islamic teachings also emphasise the spiritual rewards associated with Umrah. A hadith recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim describes one Umrah as an expiation for sins committed between it and the next Umrah.

Umrah performed during Ramadan is also associated with exceptional spiritual merit, although it does not replace the obligatory Hajj.

As Balarabe Abdullahi and Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu Nana continue their religious journey in Saudi Arabia, prayers are offered for the acceptance of their worship and supplications.

May Allah grant them a spiritually rewarding experience, answer their prayers and return them safely to Nigeria.
