Residents and prospective homeowners in Osogbo, Osun State, are set to benefit from a major housing development following the commencement of the Federal Housing Authority’s Renewed Hope Estate in the city.
The project, located on approximately 33 hectares of land, is being developed by the Federal Housing Authority in partnership with Summit Group Limited under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Representing the FHA Managing Director and Chief Executive, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, at the ceremony, the Executive Director, Estate Services, Arc. Nya-Etok Ezekiel, said the project reflected the Authority’s commitment to developing livable communities rather than merely constructing houses.
Ojo said the estate would comprise residential units, commercial spaces and recreational facilities.
He explained that the project was conceived to serve families, workers and entrepreneurs while contributing to efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit.
“Government alone cannot bridge this gap. That is why FHA has embraced Public-Private Partnership, PPP, as a central delivery model,” he said.
The FHA boss said collaboration with private-sector partners would enable the Authority to achieve faster project delivery while maintaining quality and creating value for citizens and investors.
He said FHA had also repositioned its strategies to promote accelerated project delivery, better utilisation of land and inclusive housing opportunities.
According to him, the Authority was also preparing for more housing projects across Nigeria, following developments in Uyo, Kaduna and Umuahia.
The Authority, he added, had intensified its PPP housing initiatives in Ogun State and Abuja.
Providing details of the Osogbo development, FHA’s General Manager, Partnership and Zonal Coordination, Arc. Peter Okpanachi, said the 33-hectare estate would contain 241 plots.
He said the plots would be serviced with infrastructure and facilities designed to support a functional residential community.
Among the facilities listed are a water treatment plant, petrol station, hotel, police post, recreational centres, worship centres, FHA Mortgage Bank and a clinic.
The Managing Director of Summit Group Limited, Otunba Olalere Olabode, said construction work had commenced at the site.
He thanked the FHA for entrusting the project to Summit Group Limited and described the development as a premium estate with affordability factored into its concept.
Olabode referred to the project as a “Federal GRA,” urging Osun indigenes and other Nigerians to participate in the development.
He said the estate was designed to provide comfort and safety in line with modern housing expectations.
Meanwhile, FHA Executive Director, Projects Implementation, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, said the project would offer an alternative to the existing GRA in Osogbo, which he said had come under significant pressure.
He urged investors to come in early, warning that the project could become oversubscribed.
Omowaiye assured stakeholders that FHA would deploy its expertise and professionalism towards delivering the estate.
