As Kogi State marks 35 years of creation, prominent stakeholders are urging citizens and leaders to unite behind the vision of making the Confluence State a model for development.
Chief Asaje, speaking during the Kogi@35 commemorations, said the last 35 years have shown that progress is possible when government and people work together, commending both past and present administrations for laying foundations in infrastructure, education, health, and security.
“Kogi has all it takes to be an enviable state. We are blessed with mineral resources, fertile land and a strategic location at the confluence of River Niger and River Benue but to get there, we need more support from all sons and daughters of Kogi, home and diaspora”, he pointed out.
The Elder statesman who is also the Founder/National Coordinator, Like Minds Alliance Pressure Group, called for increased investment in agriculture, youth empowerment and small businesses, noting that these are the sectors that can create jobs and reduce poverty, stressing the importance of unity across the state’s diverse ethnic groups.
According to him, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s focus on continuity, project completion, and prompt payment of salaries is a step in the right direction.
“Let us support government policies, pay our taxes, and contribute our skills. If we all play our part, Kogi@35 will not just be a celebration, but a launchpad for the next 35 years of greatness,” he said.
Chief Asaje concluded by praying for peace, unity, and prosperity for Kogi State.
