Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, has declared that the ambition to elect Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the next governor of the state is not merely the senator’s project, but his own personal political project.
Governor Sule made the declaration while receiving stakeholders of the Wadada Project, led by Gamji Mada and Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yakubu Kwanta, at the Government House in Lafia.
Speaking on the growing campaign for the 2027 governorship election, Sule said he would be the happiest person if he eventually hands over the leadership of Nasarawa State to Wadada.
“If anybody calls it the Wadada Project, indeed, this is my project. The reason is that I will be the happiest human being on earth the day I hand over the leadership of this state to Wadada,” the governor said.
The governor’s statement has further reinforced confidence among supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly against recent social media reports alleging that the party’s National Working Committee had rejected Wadada as the party’s governorship candidate.
Sule also stressed the importance of unity among members of the campaign structure, warning against the creation of separate camps between the official campaign council and the Wadada Project.
“There are people who have electoral value and there are people who have political value. We need the mixture,” he said.
He urged members of the campaign council and the Wadada Project to work together and complement one another rather than operate as separate political structures.
“I don’t want the Campaign Council of Wadada to place a period on the Wadada Project, or the Wadada Project to place a period on the Campaign Council. I want both of them to synergize and fuse together so that we will have a very strong group,” Sule added.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the National Assembly, emerged as the APC governorship candidate following consultations with stakeholders and the eventual endorsement of his candidacy by Governor Sule.
The development is expected to intensify political activities in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
