Meeting Attracts Political Attention

The meeting has generated interest because of the political positions previously occupied by the two men and their roles within the Nasarawa political landscape.

Jatau succeeded Balarabe Abdullahi as Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

While Jatau represents Kokona West, Balarabe Abdullahi hails from Toto Local Government Area. Both local government areas are in the Western Zone of Nasarawa State.

The meeting therefore comes at a time when politicians and stakeholders across the state are beginning to intensify consultations ahead of 2027.

Jatau’s Legislative Journey

Jatau is serving his third term as member representing Kokona West State Constituency.

Before his emergence as Speaker, he served as Speaker of the Kokona Local Government Legislative Council and Chairman of Agwada Development Area.

He also served in other political capacities, including as Special Assistant to a former Deputy Governor and former Minister.

Balarabe Served as Speaker for Eight Years

Balarabe Abdullahi served as Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for approximately eight and a half years.

His tenure covered the Fifth and Sixth Assemblies and part of the Seventh Assembly between 2015 and 2023.

He later assumed the position of Chairman, Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu.

The closed-door meeting between the two lawmakers is being viewed by political observers as part of the continuing engagement among senior political figures in Nasarawa State.

The latest meeting is expected to generate further political discussions as Nasarawa gradually moves towards the 2027 election cycle.
