Community dismisses withdrawal rumours, backs APC candidates ahead of general elections

Leaders and stakeholders of Oginibo Community in Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, have reaffirmed their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.
The community also endorsed the return of other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, including Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District; the member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive; and the member representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Utuama.
The reaffirmation was contained in a communiqué issued by the community and read by the Secretary-General of Oginibo Community, Mr Tisha Matthew ACA, following a stakeholders’ meeting at the Oginibo Town Square.
The community leadership also dismissed reports that Oginibo had withdrawn its support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the stakeholders, the decision to reaffirm their support was informed by what they described as Governor Oborevwori’s inclusive governance and visible infrastructural development across Delta State under the MORE Agenda.
Oginibo Rejects Withdrawal Rumours
The motion for the reaffirmation was moved by the President-General of Oginibo Community, Mr Israel Opheghe, and seconded by the councillor representing Ward 16 in the Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Hon. Mrs Ejayeta Sunday.
When the motion was put to a voice vote by Sir Isaiah Kekeje, it received overwhelming endorsement from the stakeholders.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the community to refute reports that it had withdrawn its political support following an alleged disagreement between two of its sons, Comrade Reuben Izeze and Mr Temple Mudi.
Displaying placards at the gathering, the community declared its continued backing for Governor Oborevwori and the APC.
One of the placards read, “Oborevwori’s Emergence 2027 Is Oginibo/Izeze’s Priority,” while another stated, “Oginibo Community Reaffirms Support for Oborevwori.”
Other placards urged the public to “Ignore Fake Rumours” and declared the community’s support for the APC and the Renewed Hope 4 MORE Agenda.
Kekeje Praises Oborevwori’s Infrastructure Drive
Speaking at the meeting, former APC Chairman in Ughelli South, Sir Engr. Isaiah Kekeje, commended Governor Oborevwori for appointing Comrade Reuben Izeze as Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads).
Kekeje said the appointment had been justified, noting that Izeze had contributed significantly to the implementation of the governor’s infrastructure agenda and efforts to ensure that road projects across the state met required standards of quality and durability.
He also commended the governor for ongoing road projects in Eyara and Imode communities in Ughievwen Kingdom, as well as other infrastructure projects across Ughelli South.
Other speakers, including Oginibo Youth Leader, James Ejemeria; Otota Ewheya of Oginibo Community, Mrs Helen Diajiyere; and Otota Emete of Oginibo Community, Madam Baby Krakra, also praised Governor Oborevwori for what they described as sustained infrastructural development in Ughelli South and other parts of Delta State.
Community Prays for Tinubu, Oborevwori
The meeting ended with prayers for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, the other APC candidates and Comrade Reuben Izeze.
The prayers were offered by Pa Itila Otu, the oldest man present and a member of the Elders-in-Council.
The community leaders described Izeze as a worthy son and expressed continued support for his political and public service efforts.
Among those present at the meeting were Chief Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe, Hon. James Avwomakpa, Hon. Onokata Freeborn, Mr Benjamin Omogosibo, Pastor Okoro Emoefe, Evangelist Lucky Chane, Elder Dan Pela, Sir Ezekiel Kekeje, Chief S. Z. Akporuru, Comrade Popor Augustine, Dr Scott Emuobo Oghenekaro, Mr Harry Sandys-Uwho, Mr Amos Godwin, Madam Onajite Ukrakpor and Mr Ogbefere Oghenero, among others.
The reaffirmation is expected to strengthen the APC’s mobilisation efforts in Oginibo and the wider Ughelli South axis ahead of the 2027 general elections.
