Delta Technical Team Commends Progress on Asaba Waterfront, Niger City Projects
The Delta State Technical Team supervising the Asaba Waterfront City and Niger City projects has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work at the two flagship developments, while urging contractors to accelerate critical components of the projects to ensure their timely completion.
The assessment was made during an inspection tour of the project sites led by the Special Project Director, Hon. Victor Ebonka, who evaluated ongoing construction activities, land reclamation and infrastructure development across the sites
Speaking after inspecting the reclamation works, Ebonka commended the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the developers handling both projects.

He, however, called on the North China companies executing aspects of the developments to intensify work, particularly in land reclamation and the provision of essential infrastructure, to ensure the projects are delivered within the agreed timelines.
Ebonka also praised Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering commitment to the successful implementation of the projects, noting that the state government had fully met its obligations under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to him, the government fast-tracked the construction of the six-lane access road leading to the project sites, created a conducive investment environment for the developers and ensured full compensation was paid to all affected communities with interests in the project land.
He stated that Delta State had substantially fulfilled its responsibilities under the MoU, a development he said had significantly contributed to the impressive progress already recorded.
“The governor has demonstrated strong commitment to the success of these projects by ensuring that the state’s obligations were fulfilled promptly. This has provided the developers with the confidence and environment needed to move the projects forward,” Ebonka said.
Also speaking during the inspection, the Managing Director of Niger City Development Company Limited, Mr. Ikechukwu Omeze, assured the delegation that construction activities had been intensified to meet the project’s delivery schedule.
He reiterated the company’s commitment to maintaining international quality standards while ensuring the timely completion of the ambitious urban development.
Omeze disclosed that the company had acquired and deployed one of the fastest dredging machines available, alongside other state-of-the-art equipment, to accelerate land reclamation activities across the project site.
Representatives of the Asaba Waterfront City Company, Mr. Tony Obiakor and Mr. Jasen, also informed the technical team that construction activities had been significantly scaled up through the deployment of additional manpower and modern equipment.
They revealed that advanced dredging equipment had been introduced to boost reclamation efforts, adding that dredging operations now account for a major component of ongoing works at the site.

The developers appealed for sustained collaboration and support from the Delta State Government, expressing confidence that the strong partnership would guarantee the successful delivery of the landmark projects.
