Addressing the stakeholders, Commissioner Izeze commended Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road, describing the initiative as another landmark infrastructure project under the administration’s MORE Agenda.

He said the project underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to improving road infrastructure, boosting economic development, and enhancing the living standards of residents across Delta State.

The commissioner charged the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project, noting that the ECN/Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road remains a strategic route that would enhance commercial activities, improve transportation, and strengthen connectivity between communities in Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas.

Izeze stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relations between the contractor and host communities throughout the construction period, emphasizing that continuous cooperation would guarantee the successful and uninterrupted execution of the project.

To facilitate seamless communication and prompt resolution of issues, he announced the appointment of a Special Project Coordinator and introduced community representatives who would serve as liaison officers between the government, the contractor, and the host communities.

According to him, representatives from the benefiting communities in Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas would work closely with government officials to sustain peace, address emerging concerns, and create an enabling environment for the project.

The commissioner also advised Niger Cat Construction Limited to deploy qualified professionals and adhere strictly to the project’s technical specifications while giving due consideration to the interests of the host communities.

He further disclosed that officials of the Delta State Government and the management of Niger Cat Construction Limited would next Wednesday pay courtesy visits to the traditional rulers of the affected communities to seek their support and blessings before full-scale construction begins.

Speaking after the meeting, the Project Manager of Niger Cat Construction Limited, Engineer George, described the engagement as productive and timely.

He said the meeting provided an opportunity to address critical issues before mobilisation to the project site.

“It was a very productive meeting. We discussed the commencement of the project and resolved the major issues before moving to the site. The aim is to ensure that every challenge is addressed before work begins. We appreciate His Excellency for the support,” he said.

Also speaking, the Community Representative for the project, Olorogun Godwin Sito, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, saying the framework agreed upon would strengthen collaboration among the government, contractor, and host communities.
