Comfort Onoja Denies Allegation of Mocking Late Hajiya Abu Sule Inikpi, Describes Claim as Malicious
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Special Adviser on Immunization to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Comfort Onoja, has strongly denied allegations by Mr. Omera Opaluwa that she mocked or celebrated the death of Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Saturday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, the Igala-born politician, popularly known as Ododo Mama, said she was deeply pained by the allegations, especially at a time when she is still grieving the recent loss of her mother and her twin brother, Hon. Simon Onoja, who served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State.
Hon. Onoja called on the immediate family of the late Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule, the Igala nation, her supporters, and the people of Kogi State to disregard the viral video circulating on social media, which she alleged was deliberately manipulated by Omera Opaluwa to tarnish her image and portray her negatively before the Igala Kingdom.
According to her, the attempt to portray her as someone who would mock the dead is not only unfair but a calculated move aimed at damaging her reputation as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.
She expressed disappointment that Omera Opaluwa failed to seek clarification from her before circulating what she described as a one-sided narrative.
“I strongly reject and condemn the allegations in their entirety. I was not brought up that way. I have deep respect for both the living and the dead,” she stated.
The Governor’s Special Adviser, who hails from Olamaboro Local Government Area, noted that having recently suffered painful personal losses, she fully understands the emotional trauma families endure when they lose loved ones.
She stressed that death remains inevitable and that every living soul will one day experience it, regardless of status, background, or political affiliation.
Speaking further, she said:
“I, Comfort Onoja, also known as Ododo Mama, wish to address the false narrative being peddled by Mr. Omera Opaluwa that I was laughing, jubilating, and mocking the sad passing of my sister, Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule.
“Hajiya Inikpi was my political friend and associate. Though we had political differences at times, that can never translate into me mocking her death. Death is inevitable, and every soul shall taste it. Her time came, and I pray Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings.
“Recently, I lost my mother, and within the same period, I also lost my twin brother, Hon. Simon Onoja, who served as SSA to the Governor on Information and Political Strategies.
“That alone should tell everyone that I understand the pain of losing a loved one. I therefore urge the public to disregard Omera Opaluwa’s claims on Facebook.
“I have great respect for the dead, including my political friend, Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule.

“I am still mourning my mother and my twin brother before this unfortunate controversy.”
Hon. Onoja added that she would address her supporters more extensively on the matter at the appropriate time.
She also prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of Hajiya Inikpi Abu Sule.
“May Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest and forgive her shortcomings,” she prayed.
