Toto Residents will support Mahmud Awal for Reps Seat, Says Grassroots Mobiliser, Abdulmutallib Musa Ahmed
A young grassroots mobiliser, Comrade Abdulmutallib Musa Ahmed Toto, has said many residents of Toto Local Government Area are rallying behind Hon. Muhammed Mahmud Awal ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election for Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency.
Musa Ahmed disclosed that he has been engaging with communities across polling units in Toto, promoting Awal’s candidacy and gauging public opinion, which he said has been largely favourable.
The Toto-born activist, of Egbira extraction, called on residents of the area, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to unite in support of Awal, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver effective and people-oriented representation at the National Assembly.
He spoke on Monday while hosting a group of youths at his residence, explaining that his support for Awal, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is based on his conviction that the aspirant possesses the capacity to restore the constituency’s lost glory.
Ahmed recalled that he was among those who worked tirelessly across Toto Local Government to secure the re-election of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Mohammed Abdulmumini Ari, noting that the effort was driven by a desire to sustain the existing zoning arrangement between Nasarawa and Toto local government areas.
He, however, said that the current political developments suggest a departure from that understanding, warning that actions capable of undermining the zoning agreement could create unnecessary tension ahead of the APC primaries.
The mobiliser advised the incumbent to reconsider his position and step aside in the interest of fairness and unity, adding that such a move would earn him respect as a leader willing to uphold established agreements.
He also questioned the political dynamics in Nasarawa Local Government Area, pointing to the emergence of multiple aspirants from the area as an indication of shifting alignments.
Ahmed cautioned against allowing political interests to override collective development, warning that any attempt to derail the zoning arrangement could have long-term implications for the constituency.
He urged stakeholders to prioritise the overall interest of the people and support Mahmud Awal, whom he described as capable of delivering meaningful representation and development.
