Delta Hospitals Management Board chairman urges party members to unite behind APC candidates, backs restored Isoko North constituency

The Chairman of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Paul Oweh, has mobilised members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Emevor Ward 7, Isoko North Local Government Area, for a “five-over-five” victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Oweh, who addressed APC leaders and members in the ward on Sunday, urged the party faithful to put aside personal interests and work collectively for the success of the party’s candidates at the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly levels.
According to him, the APC has produced candidates through its established electoral processes and party members should remain committed to the candidates who emerged from the primaries.
Oweh Names APC’s 2027 Candidates
Oweh listed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate; Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the governorship candidate; Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas as the Delta South Senatorial candidate; Pastor (Engineer) Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko as the candidate for the Isoko North/South Federal Constituency; and Engineer Orobosa Ashakah as the State House of Assembly candidate.
He called on party members to vote for all five candidates on election day.
“We already have our five candidates. If the President is the candidate, go there and vote for him. Don’t be fooled. These five were chosen after rigorously going through the processes of the primaries,” Oweh said.
“They are the candidates of our party, and I want to inform you, my people, that these are the people we are going to vote for — five over five.”
‘Subordinate Personal Interests To Party’
The Hospitals Management Board chairman urged APC members and supporters to subordinate personal ambitions to the collective interests of the party, constituency, state and country.
He said members who participated in the party’s primary elections should respect the outcome and support whoever emerged through the recognised processes.
Oweh also warned aspirants against allowing disappointment over primary elections to undermine the party’s chances at the general elections.
Oweh Hails Restoration Of Isoko North Constituency
The APC leader described the restoration of the previously suppressed State Constituency in Isoko North as a major political development.
He recalled that the local government had for years operated with only one State Constituency despite having 13 federal wards, a situation he said limited political representation and created pressure among communities seeking elective positions.
According to him, sustained efforts by political leaders and stakeholders eventually culminated in a court judgment restoring the constituency.
He added that electoral authorities had commenced steps towards implementing the judgment through the delineation of the new constituency.
New Constituency To Bring Wider Representation
Oweh said the restored constituency would comprise six wards drawn from different communities in Isoko North.
He expressed optimism that the development would expand political representation and reduce intense competition for elective positions within the local government.
He, however, urged stakeholders to approach the new arrangement with maturity, unity and a spirit of brotherhood.
‘Whoever Emerges, APC Will Support’
Oweh pledged that APC members would support the party’s eventual candidate for the restored constituency irrespective of the community or individual that produces the candidate.
“However it goes, the candidate that shall emerge is the one we will also vote for in the elections,” he stated.
He urged aspirants to remain loyal to the party and work together after the primaries.
Oweh Warns Against Post-Primary Defection
The APC leader also cautioned members against defecting to smaller political parties after losing the party’s primary elections.
He argued that such defections could weaken the APC and undermine its collective strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oweh urged aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to remain within the party and contribute to its success.
Emevor APC Leaders Praise Oborevwori
Meanwhile, APC leaders in Emevor Ward 7 commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the ongoing construction of the Emevor-Orogun Road.
The leaders described the road project as a visible dividend of the Oborevwori administration and said it had strengthened their confidence in the party’s leadership.
They pledged to mobilise support for APC candidates in the 2027 elections, citing the road project and other interventions by the state government as factors influencing their decision.
Stakeholders Seek Rotational Arrangement
The leaders also appealed to stakeholders involved in the restored State Constituency to consider a rotational arrangement in selecting the party’s candidate.
They argued that rotation would promote fairness and give communities within the constituency an opportunity to produce the representative over time.
They maintained that an equitable arrangement would foster unity and reduce tension among communities competing for political representation.
