2027: Lafia Central Stakeholders Seek Sule, APC Leadership, Emir’s Intervention Over Political Representation

Stakeholders in Lafia Central State Constituency of Nasarawa State have expressed concern over what they described as growing political imbalance in the area ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling for urgent intervention by Governor Abdullahi Sule, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Emir of Lafia.
The stakeholders, while pledging their continued loyalty to the APC and the state government, said there was a need to address issues of political representation and inclusiveness to ensure fairness and sustain the party’s strength in the constituency.
In a statement issued in Lafia on Friday and signed by Mr. Danladi Gideon of Bukan Sidi, Akurba Ward, the group expressed dissatisfaction with recent political developments in Lafia Central, alleging that elective and appointive positions have been disproportionately concentrated in certain areas to the disadvantage of others.
According to the statement, residents of Akurba Ward and other communities believe the current political arrangement does not adequately reflect the principles of equity and inclusiveness.
The group therefore appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Nasarawa State APC leadership to look into their concerns and take necessary steps to address the perceived imbalance in order to strengthen party unity and safeguard its electoral fortunes ahead of 2027.
The stakeholders also called on the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (Rtd), and other prominent leaders in the area to intervene and facilitate dialogue aimed at promoting fairness, justice, and a greater sense of belonging among all segments of the constituency.
They specifically noted that residents of Akurba, Wakwa and several rural communities outside the Lafia metropolis feel politically disadvantaged and are seeking greater inclusion in the distribution of political opportunities and government appointments.
While reiterating their support for the APC and the administration of Governor Sule, the stakeholders maintained that their demand is rooted in the desire for political justice and balanced representation.
They urged party leaders and critical stakeholders to consider their communities in future political arrangements, including the allocation of the Lafia Central State Assembly seat, as part of efforts to foster unity and ensure equitable participation in governance.
