2027: APM urges Nigerians to support Makind

By Our Reporter

The National Publicity Secretary of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Abubakar Yusuf, has called on Nigerians to support the party and its presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yusuf made the appeal on Monday against the backdrop of legal disputes surrounding the legitimacy of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the APM remains a viable platform for opposition parties seeking political realignment.

He said the party’s decision to present Makinde as its presidential candidate was aimed at sustaining power in the southern region through an alternative political platform.

According to him, with broad support from opposition blocs and the electorate, the APM stands a chance of emerging victorious in the 2027 presidential election.

Yusuf, however, expressed concern over recent judicial pronouncements affecting opposition parties, describing the developments as setbacks to democratic growth.

He also urged residents of Osun State to support the APM in the forthcoming August off-cycle governorship election.

He added that key stakeholders in Osun State have endorsed the party’s governorship candidate, Adewale Adebayo, noting that the election would serve as an important indicator ahead of next year’s general elections.
