As we approach the 2027 election, allegedly there has been a cunning moves by the 3 LGA’s Chairmen from Yagba Federal Constituency to short changed the collective will of the people.
It was reported that the 3 local government chairmen from Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro Local Government Areas have been allegedly fingered that they have been directed by the Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to release a statement in support of the third term agenda of Elder Leke Abejide which has on several occasions been resisted by people of Yagba Federal Constituency due to the fact that the third term agenda is an affront on the collective intelligence of the people of Yagba Federal Constituency.
If that such allegation is true, we want to state unequivocally that it is expedient to uphold the principles of political stability, inclusivity, and the maintenance of peace within a democratic framework by allowing rotation, balancing and participatory democracy which prevents feelings of marginalization.
His Excellency, due to the weight of the allegation, we want to humbly advice you to dissociate yourself from those advising you to breach an agreed-upon, though unwritten, rotation arrangement which will be perceived as a betrayal of trust, therefore upholding it reinforces your reputation as a leader committed to fairness, equity, inclusivity and justice. Abruptly ending rotation and imposition can lead to intra-party conflicts, lawsuits, electoral losses for the party and mass defections, which can weaken the administration and the ruling party.
As at today, Hon. Elder Leke Abejide has not officially decamped to The All Progressives Congress (APC), in one of his video, Elder Leke Abejide is still making it emphatically clear that he is a Member of African Democratic Congress,(ADC).
The question on lips of the people remains that is Hon. Elder Leke Abejide a registered , card-carrying, and fully aligned with the ideologies of The All Progressives Congress,(APC)?
Taking such moves erodes loyalty, discourages long-term members, and weakens grassroots trust, often leading to poor performance of members in the party affairs,disregards members who have invested time and resources, destroying local motivation, violates the principle that party nomination is a reward for sincere service, not a patronage and clientelism or transactional politics.
Respecting the power rotation arrangement is not just about alternating leadership, but about promoting equity, ensuring that all voices are heard, and creating a stable, peaceful environment for sustainable development.
It is a political blunder to use local structures to prematurely truncate and subvert the collective mandate of the people, Therefore, we advice the local government chairmen to focus on grassroots development and local security rather than acting as political hitmen.
