Sharia: Yobe Hisbah Commission Issues Strict Sharia Guidelines

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has released a firm public notice banning activities deemed contrary to Sharia law, with special emphasis on festive periods.

This announcement targets behaviors that could undermine Islamic values during high-spirited events.

The statement, dated December 31, 2025, explicitly warns against “reckless movement in vehicles” during weddings or Sallah celebrations. It also prohibits “physical interaction between men and women” in cars, motorcycles, or public gatherings.

The Commission cautions against “private conversations between men and women under the guise of chatting,” especially those not approved by Sharia principles.

The directive originates from the office of State Commander Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale. It carries the approval of Commission Chairman Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, lending it full authority.
