The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) will resume its total and indefinite comprehensive strike on January 12, 2026, over the Federal Government’s failure to meet welfare demands.
This decision emerged from an Extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on January 2, announced in a statement by NARD President, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman. Dubbed “TICS 2.0” under the theme “No Implementation, No Going Back,” the strike kicks off at midnight on January 12 and will persist until all demands are fully implemented.

Dr. Suleiman directed all 91 centre presidents to convene congress meetings and engage the media within seven days to rally support.
NARD outlined aggressive protests: centre-based actions from January 12-16, regional rallies, and a national demonstration led by the National Officers Committee.

NARD suspended a 29-day strike on November 29, 2025, following government assurances of action within four weeks, a deadline that passed without results.
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare had no response as of press time.
