Nasarawa ADC leaders console Eggon chief, Akwashiki family after senator’s death, carnival crash

The Nasarawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) offered condolences Tuesday to the Aren Eggon traditional ruler and the family of the late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki following his sudden death and a deadly truck crash at the recent Eggon Carnival that killed young community members.

The twin tragedies have plunged Nasarawa State into mourning, darkening the Eggon community and its political circles. ADC State Publicity Secretary Comr. Idris Ojoko said in a statement, Tuesday that high-level party delegation visited the Aren Eggon, His Royal Highness Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I, at his home in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

The group separately consoled the Akwashiki family in Lafia, the state capital. Leading the visit was ADC State Coordinator Chief John Michael Abdul, joined by Sen. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South, and Deputy National Chairman Sen. Patricia Akwashiki, a relative of the deceased.

The delegates called the losses “painful blows not just to the Eggon Nation, but to Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.”

Chief Abdul led prayers for the souls of Sen. Akwashiki and the crash victims, asking for divine strength for the families, the Aren Eggon, and the Eggon people to endure these “irreparable losses.”

“May the souls of late Senator Godiya Akwashiki and the departed youths rest in perfect peace,” the statement said.

The Aren Eggon thanked the ADC for its solidarity, praising Akwashiki as “a great son of Eggon land whose contributions to Nasarawa and Nigeria will be eternally remembered.”

Other delegation members included ADC Coalition State Secretary Mallam Jibril Sabo Keana, Barr. John Mathew, Jonathan Shuki, Mr. Nathaniel Aboki, Mr. Gaza Mark Auta, Hon. Godwin Soji, Hon. Dogara Egye Ahmed, Mallam Sarki and additional party stakeholders.
