Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora have been advised to reflect on the true significance of the celebration of Christmas which embodies love, compassion and hope.
The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, gave the advice in a felicitation Message to Christians to mark the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, commemorated worldwide on 25th December.
The statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, Lizzy Okoji, the Minister described Christmas as a period for sober reflection and renewed commitment to the values of unity, empathy and selflessness, noting that these ideals remain essential to fostering peaceful coexistence and national cohesion.
He urged Nigerians to use the season to strengthen communal bonds and extend goodwill, particularly to the vulnerable and less privileged members of society.
“Christmas offers us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the values that bind us together as a people – love, compassion, sacrifice and shared responsibility. At a time when our nation is undergoing important reforms, these values must continue to guide our actions, both as leaders and as citizens
“The message of hope that defines this season resonates strongly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is focused on rebuilding confidence in governance, creating opportunities for Nigerians and laying a solid foundation for sustainable development. While the journey may require patience and collective effort, the destination remains a stronger, more prosperous, and self-reliant Nigeria”, Prince Audu stated.
He noted that ongoing efforts across critical sectors, including steel development, reflect the administration’s determination to reposition the economy for industrial growth, job creation, and long-term economic resilience. According to the Minister, the revitalisation of the steel sector remains central to achieving broad-based industrialisation and reducing import dependence.
Prince Audu encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast, optimistic, and supportive of the Federal Government’s reform initiatives, stressing that collective responsibility, national unity, and sustained hope are indispensable to the country’s progress.
He prayed for peace, good health, and prosperity in every Nigerian home and wished Christians and all Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.
