In line with the directive of the National body of the Labour Party, new executives of the Party have been chosen in Kogi State at a State Affirmation Congress held at the event Hall of the Hilltop Hotel, Lokoja.
Alh. Suleiman Abdul was returned as the Party’s State Chairman, Secretary – Umar Abubakar, Assistant Secretary (II) – Salmat Yahaya, Youth Leader – Prince Bawa Hamza, Hawa Maiyaki – Women Leader, Treasurer – Hannah Chembere with Abubakar Suleiman – Auditor General.
Zonal Chairman (East) – Danjuma Abu Atogala, Zonal Chairman (West) – Abubakar Garuba Ladan, Zonal Chairman (Central) – Isah Idris, Zonal Youth Leader Central, Momoh Isah, Zonal Youth Leader (West) – Oludunso Michael, Youth Leader (East), Adejoh Raphael Ojonimi, among others.
Electoral Committee Chairman, Gabriel Ujah, said the Congress was necessary to enable the Party in thr Confluence State to kick start preparation for the next political dispensation.
Ujah congratulated all the Leaders of the Party in the State on their emergence, urging them to stick to the ideals of the Party to enable them function well.
He charged the new executives to also prioritise bringing new Members that will help promote the image of the Party to greater heights, stressing that the support of the National body is assured at all times.
In his acceptance speech, the State Chairman of Labour Party, Alh. Suleiman Muhammed Abdul, appreciated the Leadership of the Party for the confidence reposed in him, describing his return as a call to do more for the Party.
The Party’s Chairman congratulated all other executives of the Party in Kogi State on their emergence, promising to run an open door policy and work with them in the interest of the Party.
Alh. Abdul said plans are underway at ensuring that the presence of the Party is felt across all nooks and crannies of the Confluence State, assuring members that they will be carried along in all activities.
He commended the National Chairman of Labour Party, Hon. Julius Abure for his doggedness at keeping the Party together, noting that his commitment contributed immensely to the prominence the Party has gained in the Country and beyond.
Alh. Suleiman encouraged Kogites to join the Labour Party, which he described as a moving train and force that will dominate other parties in no distant time as the Major opposition Party in Kogi State.
