Kogi PDP Chairman Pledges Greater Women Inclusion in Politics
Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to boosting women’s participation in politics through inclusivity measures and targeted quotas.
Speaking as a panelist at a state-level consultative forum on women and political parties, Hon. Gambo said the PDP is repositioning itself to enhance women’s roles in the electoral process.

The event, aimed at promoting gender inclusivity, was organized by the Centre for Policy Insight (CPI) in partnership with the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, with funding from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).”We will implement quotas for seats and positions reserved for women to ensure proper representation,” Hon. Gambo stated.
He also called for mentorship programs pairing emerging female politicians with experienced leaders for guidance.
The PDP chairman advocated expanded training, empowerment workshops, and resources to equip women with the skills and confidence needed for political engagement.
He urged society to tackle cultural barriers, noting that the party is already working with communities to challenge stereotypes hindering women’s involvement.
Hon. Gambo further advised aspiring female politicians to adopt flexible schedules that balance family duties with public service, encouraging broader participation.
He commended CPI for the timely forum, adding that the PDP, under his leadership, is dedicated to restoring women and youths, who form the largest voting bloc, to prominence in the party.
“You will recall that during the PDP era in government, we had far greater women representation than we see today,” he said, positioning the party as inclusive and voter-focused.
