IPPSM Endorses Tom Inko-Tariah, Joy Nunieh as Ijaw Choice for Rivers 2027 Gov Race under ADC

The Ijaw People’s Political Survival Movement (IPPSM) has endorsed Tom Inko-Tariah (FIADRN) as the Ijaw ethnic nationality’s preferred candidate for Rivers State governor in the 2027 elections under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) banner.

IPPSM also nominated Joy Yimebe Nunieh, former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), as Inko-Tariah’s running mate for deputy governor.

The endorsement, announced yesterday, aims to secure an eight-year Ijaw tenure in Rivers State leadership, building on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s ongoing first term.

Fubara, an Ijaw son elected in 2023, represents the first four years of this mandate, IPPSM stated, warning that denying him a second term amid reported All Progressives Congress (APC) intra-party crises linked to pro-Wike forces would threaten equity and ethnic balance.

“We the Ijaws have great trust in her abilities and capabilities,” IPPSM said.Her experience in exposing malfeasance and pushing transparency will complement Inko-Tariah’s vision for an accountable administration focused on women’s empowerment and sustainable development.

 

Call for Unity, Fair Polls:

 

Chief Jackson Dagogo Jack, IPPSM National Coordinator, declared: “IPPSM stands firm in its commitment to political survival and equity for the Ijaw nation.”Tom Inko-Tariah (FIADRN) and Joy Yimebe Nunieh represent the fresh, dynamic duo that Rivers State needs to complete the Ijaw mandate and deliver on the promises of progress.

 

“We call on all patriotic Rivers indigenes, regardless of party affiliation, to rally behind this under the ADC, a party known for its progressive ideals and commitment to grassroots democracy.”

 

IPPSM urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and judiciary to ensure a level playing field free of intimidation, while calling on Fubara supporters and Ijaw communities to unite.

 

The group pledged non-violent advocacy, voter mobilization, and education across Rivers State’s 23 local government areas.
