The ancient throne of Imeoha Nkerefi deeply appreciated all supporters of the 2025 New Yam Festival and Thanksgiving, an event that brought together the four autonomous communities of Nkerefi Land in exceptional peace, joy, and unity. This festival, held on October 25-26, 2025, transcended mere celebration and featured cultural heritage, royal compassion, and visionary leadership under His Royal Highness Igwe Luke Ogbu Ogbuta Okorie.

In a message personally delivered from the palace, His Royal Highness Igwe Luke Ogbu Ogbuta Okorie, Ezeanyanecheoha I of Imeoha Nkerefi, described the festival as a divine blessing and a landmark achievement that would be remembered throughout the community’s history. He noted that the coming together of Imeoha, Enuogu, Isienu Amofu and Ohunani Amofu reaffirmed that unity remains the greatest strength of Nkerefi people.

Igwe Okorie expressed special gratitude to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, praising his unwavering commitment to peace, good governance, and sustainable development. He highlighted the impact of the ongoing Enugu Bridge project and the newly established Type 2 Hospital in Imeoha Nkerefi, describing them as transformational initiatives that have brought renewed hope to rural communities. He prayed that the Governor would be divinely guided as he continues to deliver service to the state.

The monarch appreciated the Christian clergy for offering spiritual covering over the festival, acknowledging the Reverend Father of St. Luke’s Methodist Church for an inspiring sermon that reminded all attendees of the importance of gratitude and unity. He commended Dr. Patrick Ojiakor Njoku, Chief of Staff to the throne, for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the planning and execution of the festivities. The Imeoha Development Union was also thanked for its cooperation in maintaining peace and promoting development.

His Royal Highness celebrated Her Royal Majesty, Ugoeze Shu Fang Chen Okorie, Nneoha I of Imeoha Nkerefi, for her steadfast support to the throne and her contributions to the smooth running of the palace. He also recognized the youthful commitment of the Prince of Imeoha Nkerefi, who played a vital role throughout the celebration. The Umu Ada Nkerefi were hailed for their vibrant cultural involvement and for remaining the moral fortress of the land.

The Igwe acknowledged the Bursary Educational Support Awards where sixty-two deserving Nkerefi students received assistance, noting that education continues to be a foundation for the community’s future success. He extended warm thanks to Ambassador Daniel Chukwu and several royal fathers from Enuogu Nkerefi, Isienu Amofu Nkerefi, Nara, Amaechi and neighbouring areas, whose presence added honour to the event.

He described the cultural displays and masquerades that graced the festival as colourful reflections of Nkerefi’s heritage, reminding all of the values that bind them as one people. Concluding his message, Igwe Okorie prayed that peace, unity and divine favour would continue to flourish across Nkerefi Land and Enugu State. He affirmed that with hearts united, the people are destined for a brighter future. “To God be the glory — forever and ever,” he declared.
