Abia first lady gives gifts and 1m naira to state’s first baby of 2026

The wife of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Mrs Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has celebrated the birth of the state’s first baby of 2026 with gifts and a cash donation of 1m naira.
The baby girl, named Oluebubechi Nwatuobi Excessgrace by her parents, was born at 00:43 local time on Thursday at Akirika Ukwu Primary Healthcare Centre in Ukwa West local government area.
She weighed 3kg (6.6lb).Mrs Otti visited the centre and presented the mother, Blessing Chinagozie from Itungwa in Obingwa LGA, with bags of rice, milk, groundnut oil, sanitary items and the cash sum.
“This gesture is to support the mother’s nutrition and wellbeing during the nursing period,” she said, naming the infant “Ihuoma” and praying for her to “grow in peace, grace and favour”.

Describing the birth as a “joyful and symbolic beginning” to the year, Mrs Otti praised recent upgrades to Abia’s primary healthcare facilities and urged expectant mothers to use government centres.
Abia’s Health Commissioner, Dr Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, welcomed her support, saying it reinforced Governor Otti’s reforms in the sector.
The centre’s matron, Kasarachi Emmanuel, called the visit “timely and impactful”, while the parents, Nwatuobi Chiagozie and Blessing Chinagozie, thanked Mrs Otti, saying: “You’ve made our daughter’s birth unforgettable.”
Mrs Otti also prayed for the child’s future and urged the parents to instil strong moral values.
