Nasarawa APC Lawmakers Hold 10th Caucus Meeting, Strategise Ahead of Primaries

Lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the party’s recently concluded ward, local government, state and national congresses, describing the process as peaceful and transparent.
The commendation was made by the Majority Leader of the House, Suleiman Yakubu Azara, while briefing journalists shortly after the 10th APC caucus meeting held at the Assembly complex in Lafia on Wednesday.
Hon. Azara said the lawmakers used the meeting to review the outcomes of the congresses and to congratulate party leaders who emerged at various levels, including the national and state leadership of the party. He noted that the successful conduct of the exercises reflects the strength and internal cohesion of the APC.
The caucus meeting, which took place at the office of the Majority Leader, was attended by the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, his Deputy, Muhammad Adamu Oyanki, and other APC lawmakers.
According to Azara, the meeting also focused on preparations for the party’s forthcoming primary elections, expected to commence later this month and continue into the next.
He emphasized the need for unity and discipline among members as the party moves into a critical phase of its political calendar.
“We have discussed a range of issues involving unity, peace and progress of the party. As lawmakers, we are united and will remain loyal to the party in the state,” he said.
The Majority Leader added that the caucus had endorsed the party’s arrangements regarding the mode of primaries, aligning with decisions reached by party leaders and stakeholders.
“We have declared support for the party’s position on the conduct of the primaries. What our leaders and stakeholders agreed upon remains our collective position in the interest of unity, peace and development,” he stated.

Azara further expressed confidence in the leadership of the party at all levels and assured of continued cooperation between lawmakers, stakeholders and party members across constituencies to secure electoral success beyond the 2027 general elections.
He said the lawmakers are committed to teamwork and effective collaboration with the executive arm of government to advance development in the state.
“We will continue to work in unity and synergise with stakeholders and government for the progress of the state,” he added.
The caucus, he disclosed, also resolved to pay courtesy visits to Governor Abdullahi Sule, the state party chairman and other key stakeholders ahead of the primaries, as part of efforts to strengthen internal harmony and consolidate support for the party.
