Kogi governor praises ally Faleke as youth group backs second term bid
The Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ahmed Ododo, has commended a key political ally, James Faleke, describing him as a consistent supporter of his administration.
Mr Ododo said Mr Faleke had stood by him before, during and after his election, including throughout the legal challenges that followed the vote.
The governor made the remarks after a youth group, the Faleke Youth Vanguard, publicly endorsed him for a second term in office.
He characterised the endorsement as reflective of Mr Faleke’s leadership style, which he said prioritises unity and the broader interests of Kogi State over sectional considerations.
Mr Ododo also praised the group for consulting Mr Faleke ahead of their decision, saying the move demonstrated efforts to strengthen cohesion within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
“We must agree to work together as one family,” the governor said, urging political actors to collaborate in addressing the state’s challenges and advancing development.
He added that his administration would continue to focus on service delivery, while encouraging political aspirants to engage more closely with grassroots communities.
The governor also expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as federal support for Kogi State, particularly in infrastructure projects such as the Lokoja–Abuja road.

Speaking on behalf of the endorsing group, its national coordinator, Alamo Kehinde, cited improvements in infrastructure, education and security as reasons for backing the governor’s re-election bid.
Other speakers at the event, including Bode Adeyemi and Salihu Nana-Aisha, described Mr Ododo as approachable and responsive, pledging their continued support.
The endorsement is seen by observers as an early boost to the governor’s prospects ahead of the next election cycle.
