Hon. Abdullahi Al-Asi Ibrahim (AIBRO): A Profile in Service, Excellence and Grassroots Commitment
Early Life and Education:
Abdullahi Al-Asi Ibrahim, popularly known as AIBRO, was born in Udege Mbeki, a historic mining community in Nasarawa State, into the family of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Kwogo Egya (Magayakin Udege). He was raised in a traditional setting that instilled in him the enduring values of hard work, patience and perseverance, shaping his early understanding of purposeful living and community service.
He began his formal education at Central Primary School, Udege, before proceeding to Government Secondary School, Udege-Mbeki, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. Renowned among his peers for academic excellence, he earned the nickname “Mathematical Obons” and graduated as the best student, receiving a scholastic award in mathematics. He later attended SPS Keffi (Basic ’90 class) before gaining admission into the University of Jos, Plateau State, where he studied Business Management.
In 1994, he graduated with a Second Class Upper (Honours) degree and received the prestigious Mrs. Dangins’ Award for Best Graduating Student in Business Policy and Strategy.
Driven by a passion for continuous learning, AIBRO obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting and Finance from Benue State University in 2005. He further earned a Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Accounts and Audit from the Nigerian College of Accountancy in 2007.
He is a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), among other professional bodies.
His quest for professional excellence has also taken him across Africa for specialized training, including programmes in Brazzaville (Congo), Pretoria (South Africa), and Gaborone (Botswana).
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he received the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director’s Award in 2016 as a member of the WHO Nigeria Country Office Budget and Finance Team.
Career Trajectory:
AIBRO began his career during the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in Cross River State. He later joined the Plateau Radio Television Corporation in Jos as a security guard, an uncommon role for a university graduate at the time, demonstrating humility and an unwavering commitment to service.
In 1996, he enlisted with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and was posted to Abuja, where his diligence, discipline and respect for hierarchy earned him commendation.
Notably, he used his position to create employment opportunities for many youths from his community, several of whom have since risen to prominent positions within the Corps.
Seeking broader opportunities, AIBRO transitioned to the international stage with the World Health Organization (WHO), where he has built a distinguished career spanning over two decades.
His roles have taken him across several countries, including Lebanon, Somalia, Mozambique and Nigeria, where he has served in various capacities such as Operations Specialist, Compliance and Risk Management Officer, Budget Officer, Grants Management Officer and Finance Officer.
He also served as President of the WHO Nigeria Staff Association, where he played a pivotal role in conflict resolution, staff welfare advocacy and community development initiatives.
Under his leadership, staff mobilised resources for humanitarian interventions in the North-East and initiated the development of a 169-unit housing estate in Abuja valued at over N3.6 billion.

The Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency, despite its vast landmass and resource potential, continues to grapple with underdevelopment, insecurity and limited access to economic opportunities.
On insecurity, AIBRO proposed sustained advocacy for improved security presence, community intelligence gathering, and dialogue between farmers and herders to promote peaceful coexistence.
In the area of agriculture, he pledged to facilitate access to funding, promote awareness of government programmes and encourage value chain development for crops such as yam, sesame and cashew.
He also stressed the need for improved educational standards through consistent engagement with relevant authorities, while advocating for increased investment in schools and learning infrastructure.
