…Mopamuro LGA is not a Minority
Giving the political discourse in a public domain, one shouldn’t waste precious time dabbling into unprogressive discussion like the above, but for the purpose of clarity, necessity is beckoning to set the records straight.
We find the insinuations by an individual or group of individuals that Mopamuro LGA is a minority as misleading, and the agitation/protest to secure a third term agenda for Elder Leke Abejide.
Equally, we find this assertion not only factually incorrect but a calculated attempt to diminish the political and economic significance of Mopamuro Local Government Area.
The claim that Mopamuro Local Government is a “minority” fails to hold up under scrutiny.
Statistics of Mopamuro Voters Population according to Census and INEC reflects a tangible numbers, so to categorize an area with a reasonable registered voters and census population which has continued to increased as a minority is a willful misrepresentation of demographic realities.
Under the Constitution, local governments are recognized as a distinct, third-tier of government. No LGA is “minority” or “majority” in terms of rights; all are equal partners in development. The claim attempts to create a “dominant versus subordinate” narrative that is unconstitutional.
Contrary to the claims of insignificance, Mopamuro Local Government Area has continued to drive grassroots development and contributed immensely towards the socio-economic development and growth of Nigeria, Kogi State and Yagba Federal Constituency.
Additionally, political influence is not just about population size, but also about voting turnout, economic contribution, or strategic alliances.
It’s often said that the truth stands firm no matter how loud lie is spoken. We have taken time to reflect on the emotional rhetoric hallucinatory figment and imaginary scandal presented by some acclaimed individuals who are using the ploy of suppressing the people on minority analysis.
We are realist and we don’t judge issues based on emotions, neither are we biased. The truth is, yes, Mopamuro LGA have genuine reasons to feel marginalized, especially in politics, projects allocation and certain areas of national representation.
Could it be because of the size in population that we have been tongue lashed and no meaningful developmental projects from the present occupant of House Of Representatives Member, Yagba Federal Constituency Seat?
We therefore demand for inclusion and presentation of achievements which will be subjected to proper scrutiny, investigation and context.
We have only been seeing listing of few projects, However, it is no longer enough to reel out project titles or locations. Development is not measured in enumeration but in execution, quality, impact, and local engagement.
Three critical questions must therefore guide our reflection and response, which are as follows:
1. Were these projects physically on ground, if yes, were they truly completed, or are they merely on paper or politically convenient ongoing projects?
2. Who were the contractors awarded these projects?
3. What is the current state of these projects? Are they usable, abandoned, or substandard?
We demand for a deep-rooted infrastructural transformation and human capacity building development that will changes the economic and social landscape of our people.
This is a time for truth, not tokenism. For accountability, not applause. For evidence, not emotive rhetoric.
We are not ungrateful. We are simply asking that governance be people-focused, not paper-focused.
We welcome development, not in headlines alone, but in visible, meaningful, and sustained impact.
Let us inform you that a failed project is a failed promise no matter where it is sited.
Therefore, we explicitly reject the framing of Mopamuro LGA as a “minority” or “subordinate” group. Mopamuro LGA have equal status as a constitutional third tier of government. Also Mopamuro LGA is guaranteed, not subordinate to, the same rights and funding as other LGAs under the national constitution.
In a society where the voices of the under represented LGA are often marginalized, the struggle for equal representation and opportunities is both urgent and necessary. While there have been moments of disappointments and frustrations, the lessons learned from these experiences have only strengthened our resolve to continue pushing for change.
Our political environment must reflects that equity and fairness are not just ideals but actionable goals
Therefore, contrary to the assertion that Mopamuro Local Government is a “minority,” we wish to state that Mopamuro Local Government is a legally constituted, autonomous, and democratic body serving all inhabitants of our area, irrespective of background, status etcetera.
As a matter of public service, it is essential that discussions about our federal constituency be rooted in facts, fairness and shared commitment to the common good.
Say No to insinuations laced with chauvinism and communal hostilities that are a threat to political stability and democracy.
Conclusively, we call on all stakeholders, electorates and residents to disregard this attempt to sow division. The focus should remain on unity, progress, and securing fair resources based on equity, fair play, justice and inclusivity, not on divisive ethnic and labeling.
